Seoul, September 6th – Within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Korea, the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man met with members of the Vietnam Innovation Network and Vietnamese experts in Korea.  

The event underscored the Party and State’s commitment to mobilizing overseas Vietnamese intellectual resources for national development, with the goal of making Vietnam a high-income developed country by 2045. 

At the meeting, Chairman Tran Thanh Man highlighted Korea’s AI development strategy, which aims to make the technology a core national growth engine and has popularized AI across public services, healthcare, transportation, and society, alongside a completed legal and ethical framework. 

Regarding Vietnam’s direction, the National Assembly Chairman said the country is prioritizing domestic computing and data infrastructure, green data centers, and AI solutions suited to Vietnam’s culture and legal system. He expressed hope that the network would become an “extended arm” of the country’s intellect and technology, sharing international knowledge and experience. 

Following the Chairman’s remarks, Dr. Thanh Nguyen Van, Director of Technology Solution at CMC Korea, shared insights from his research and work in Korea, proposing 3 recommendations for Vietnam: concentrating resources on strategic technologies with long-term objectives; building a mechanism to bring research results to market; and reforming R&D funding and evaluation mechanisms to accept controlled scientific risk. 

Acknowledging these recommendations at the event, Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed the National Assembly’s continued commitment to a modern, open institutional framework and stronger oversight, especially in science, innovation, and digital transformation. He urged the network to work with domestic agencies on priority areas, stressing the meeting opened new Vietnam – Korea cooperation opportunities in strategic technologies.
