Job Description

  • Handle and manage Payroll / C&B operations for employees working in Japan.
  • Calculate and verify monthly salaries, allowances, overtime payments, deductions, and other related payments.
  • Handle procedures related to Japanese Individual Income Tax, including:
    • Monthly income tax withholding.
    • Year-end tax adjustment (年末調整 / Nenmatsu Chōsei).
    • Other relevant tax-related procedures.
  • Handle matters related to Social Insurance (社会保険) and Labor Insurance (労働保険), including:
    • Health Insurance (健康保険).
    • Employees’ Pension Insurance (厚生年金).
    • Employment Insurance (雇用保険).
    • Complete insurance enrollment, changes, and termination procedures for employees.
  • Monitor and handle onboarding / offboarding procedures related to payroll, taxes, and insurance.
  • Manage and update employee information, employment records, and other data related to Payroll / C&B.
  • Provide support and respond to employees’ inquiries regarding salary, taxes, social insurance, leave, and employee benefits.
  • Support and handle visa / residence status procedures for foreign employees in Japan, including:
    • Visa/status of residence renewals.
    • Changes to status of residence.
    • Certificate of Eligibility (COE) applications.
    • Monitoring visa and residence status expiration dates.
  • Perform other HR Operations duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Japanese language proficiency at N2 level or above, with good communication skills in a Japanese corporate environment.
  • 1–3 years of HR experience in Japan, preferably with experience in Payroll / C&B / HR Operations.
  • Good understanding of and ability to apply Japanese labor laws and regulations, particularly those related to payroll, taxation, and social insurance.
  • Experience handling visa / residence status procedures for foreign employees in Japan, including renewals, changes of status of residence, and Certificate of Eligibility (COE) applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
