On September 17th, 2026, the Vietnam Innovation Day 2026 was successfully held in Berlin, Germany, marking a significant milestone in the growing science, technology, and innovation partnership between Vietnam and Germany. The forum was organized under the leadership of the Embassy of Vietnam in Germany, in collaboration with CMC Corporation and FPT Corporation.
The event brought together a distinguished gathering of German and Vietnamese government officials, experts, representatives from research institutes, universities, and businesses.
Among the attendees were Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Federal Republic of Germany; Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee Pham Anh Tuan; State Secretary of the Ministry of Economics, Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Thuringia Marcus Malsch; Deputy Director of the Institute for Policy and Strategy Research under the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Luong Van Khoi.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh emphasized that Vietnam is focusing on perfecting its legal framework, developing digital infrastructure, and cultivating high-quality human resources, particularly in the fields of AI, information technology, semiconductors, and cybersecurity.
CMC Global took an active role in the discussions, with Mr. Olaf Baumann, Country Director of CMC Deutschland (Germany branch of CMC Global), joining experts from Vietnamese and German research institutes, universities, and enterprises to explore cooperation models in information technology.
During the forum, Mr. Olaf shared his perspective on the German market, noting that the company is expanding its operations in Germany with headquarters in Frankfurt. CMC Deutschland currently collaborates with major partners in the energy, manufacturing, and automotive sectors, including Bosch, Ecoligo, MotoAI, Aicas, and Stackbox.
In his view, the German market still holds significant potential, especially in the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) segment. He noted that these companies are often eager to digitalize but struggle to find the right technology partners, a gap that CMC Deutschland is well-positioned to fill.
The Vietnam Innovation Day 2026 not only reinforced the strong bilateral ties between Vietnam and Germany but also paved the way for tangible partnerships that will drive innovation and technological advancement in both nations. As Vietnam continues to position itself as a rising hub for technology and innovation in Southeast Asia, events like this underscore the immense potential for international collaboration in shaping the future of industry and digital transformation.
