On December 11th, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the National Innovation Center (NIC), and NVIDIA Corporation held a seminar titled “Development trends of the semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence, and opportunities for Vietnam.” The event took place at the NIC campus in Hoa Lac.
NVIDIA CEO Sees Vietnam as AI Hub
The seminar was part of NVIDIA co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. In his address, Huang emphasized the potential of AI for Vietnam: “AI is a new wave that has appeared and can be said to be the biggest ever. Currently is a huge opportunity for Vietnam. Vietnam has prepared well and this is your opportunity.”
Huang further proposed a strategic partnership between Vietnam and NVIDIA, stating: “This is an extremely great time for the two sides to establish strategic relationships, AI and chips – both industries vital to the prosperous development of countries. Vietnam is a partner of NVIDIA. We will further expand our existing partnership with Vietnam, as well as contribute to AI Vietnam in the future. We are committed to turning Vietnam into our second homeland and establishing a legal entity in Vietnam.”
CMC Invests in AI Infrastructure
Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed Vietnam’s advantages in developing the semiconductor and AI industries.
Representing CMC Corporation, a leading Vietnamese technology corporation, Chairman of CMC Corporation Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh confirmed their commitment to digital infrastructure investments: “One of our important missions is to make CMC a leading company in digital infrastructure. In our 5-year strategy, we plan to invest 300-500 million USD to build large data centers, mainly to help solve the problem of processing AI applications.”
Collaboration for a Brighter Future
The seminar highlighted the potential for collaboration between Vietnam and NVIDIA in AI development. With NVIDIA’s expertise and CMC’s infrastructure investment, Vietnam can become a major player in the global AI landscape.
