HANOI – August 27, 2026 – Over 200 senior policymakers, business leaders, and technology experts gathered at the InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 today for the Vietnam-China Dialogue on AI and the Digital Economy 2026, marking a significant milestone in bilateral technology cooperation.
The forum was co-hosted by the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) under Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs Alliance (GBA Alliance), and Hong Kong’s Sunwah Group. Co-organizers included the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore (HKETO), the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), and the Hong Kong-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce (HKVCC).
The event builds on the momentum of high-level diplomatic engagements, including General Secretary To Lam’s State visit to China in April 2026, during which both nations signed an MOU on AI development and governance. The dialogue aimed to translate these strategic commitments into concrete commercial and research collaborations.
In his keynote address, Mr. Nguyen Khac Lich, Director of the Department of Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence (Ministry of Science and Technology), noted that Vietnam’s digital economy now accounts for approximately 14% of GDP, with targets of 30% by 2030 and 50% by 2045. With AI projected to contribute approximately US$120–130 billion to Vietnam’s GDP by 2040, the dialogue underscored the immense growth potential from deepened technology cooperation between the two nations.

A highlight of the dialogue was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CMC Global and Sunwah Hanoi, formalizing a comprehensive strategic partnership across multiple technology domains. The agreement includes digital transformation initiatives like: AI, cloud computing, data centers, joint business development, and market expansion activities.
The forum concluded with a roundtable session on practical pathways for Vietnam-China AI collaboration, setting the stage for a new era of innovation-led partnership.
